Kemiko

Kemiko Stone Tone Stain transforms an ordinary concrete slab into a luxurious floor that resembles marble or glazed stone. When concrete is stained and scored Kemiko creates the appearance of expensive flooring at a fraction of the cost. Unlike paint, Kemiko Stone Tone Stain reacts with the minerals present in the concrete giving it the look and feel of natural stone.  Each concrete slab accepts the stain in varying degrees of intensity creating stunning, multi-hued color variations and an uneven surface that looks perfectly aged.  The Epmar corporation who manufactures Kemiko has now upgraded its manufacturing facilities and practices to insure that it conforms to guidelines set forth by LEED.

Kemiko’s acid stains and sealers have been used by architects, builders, designers, and specifiers for over 75 years. Since 1930 their product line of quality stains, sealers and architectural coatings have offered the best color reliability and permanence.  All of the SUSTAIN house packages include specifications for Kemiko stains on the main living level of the homes.  When a concrete slab is poured it typically must be covered with an additional material, like wood, carpet or tile.  Kemiko allows the structural slab to be stained and scored to give a rich and beautiful natural stone appearance without the need for an extra finish material.  This process helps to conserve our natural resources.  Stained concrete floors are durable, low maintenance, and have a striking depth of color from the reaction of the stain with the concrete.  They are also great for allergy sufferers.
